Half is really good, the other half...

Ghost Omnibus Vol 4 reprints the first 11 issues of Ghost v2 from the late 1990s and some stray stories from Dark Horse Presents.
The first half promises revelations about Ghost's origins, and manages the neat trick of changing everything we thought we knew, but in a way that still makes complete sense. This book was written by Chris Warner rather than the original series author Eric Luke, so I wonder if these revelations were planned all along or if Warner just did a great job working them in.
Unfortunately, in the second half of the book Ghost has a long and rather dull team up with fellow Dark Horse character King Tiger. This requires reintroducing him, his supporting cast, the state of affairs in his town and several new villains. It knocks the whole story off its tracks and reminds me why I find the idea of comic book 'universes' so annoying. If I want to read about King Tiger I'd buy his books!
Worse yet Ghost encounters a cosmic guy who fixes her memory problems with a snap of his fingers. It's a terrible anti-climax to several years of storytelling. I can't believe a professional writer used a literal deus ex machina! Especially when the revelations in the first half of the book were so elegently done.
The art remains good throughout and keep the book from being too disappointing.
By my count there's enough material for a final Ghost Omnibus and despite my dispointment with some of the stories in this book I'd definitely pick it up.

Another good volume in the series. Elisa is betrayed, beaten, finds out more about her past. One of dark horses better superhero series.

I love ghost. Even though her story is now complicated beyond what is reasonable, there something just compelling to her story, her look, her attotude. Love her!
